Targit is a Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor that empowers financial institutions and organizations to deliver data analytics solutions. The platform specializes in verticals including heavy equipment, automotive, and public sector, offering a low-code, no-code alternative to tools like Power BI with their proprietary technology stack.
With offices spanning the US and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), Targit's professional services organization manages implementation projects across multiple regions. The delivery function consists of 24+ consultants globally handling end-to-end client onboarding and solution delivery.
Boe Pedersen, Director running the professional services team for both US and EMEA regions, leads the transformation initiative leveraging Rocketlane to standardize delivery operations, enhance client experience, and scale efficiently across geographies.
When their team grew from a small, localized group to 15+ consultants across regions, the limitations of their patchwork toolset became impossible to ignore. Leadership couldn't answer fundamental questions about capacity, project status, or time-to-value and clients expected a more professional, transparent experience than spreadsheets and email could provide.
Targit had been managing professional services delivery using a patchwork of tools, Jira with the Tempo plugin for time tracking, Google Sheets for project planning, OneDrive for client collaboration, and email for communication. While this worked adequately when they were a smaller team, the cracks began to show as they scaled to 15+ consultants across the US and EMEA regions.
The breaking point wasn't a single catastrophic failure, but rather a growing realization that their toolset was holding them back. Boe and his leadership team couldn't answer fundamental questions: How many projects are live right now? Which ones are at risk? What's our capacity for next quarter? Most critically, they had no way to measure time-to-value, a key performance indicator for any professional services organization.
"Every region had its own way of doing things spreadsheets, trackers, and manual reports. We couldn't get a consolidated view of where we were with all our projects or what was coming up next."
With time tracking in Jira + Tempo, project planning in spreadsheets, client collaboration in OneDrive, and communication scattered across email, there was no single source of truth.
Leadership couldn't get a consolidated view of active projects, resource allocation, or delivery risks. Each region had developed its own workarounds, creating inconsistency across the organization. Creating new projects in Jira was "quite a daunting task each time," requiring manual task-by-task setup that consumed valuable delivery time.
Clients had no visibility into project progress unless they actively asked for updates. There was no portal, no real-time status tracking, and no streamlined way to collect feedback or secure approvals. The manual process of sending PDFs for Statement of Work approvals, requiring clients to print, sign, scan, and email back, created unnecessary delays and appeared outdated, especially for a BI vendor helping clients make data-driven decisions.
"Most of our activity was happening by email. We had spreadsheets where we would try to do project management and get feedback. We were in OneDrive, we would put our notes into Excel and have the customers do the same."
As the team grew, manual processes became unsustainable. Time-to-value wasn't tracked or measured, making it impossible to optimize delivery cycles. The sales team had zero visibility into project progress, requiring delivery teams to "remember to tell the sales team" about milestones manually. Things would "fall through the cracks" without systematic tracking, and the lack of integration between calendars and time tracking created administrative burden that pulled consultants away from billable work.
Targit's evaluation of alternatives like Monday.com and Smartsheet revealed a critical gap: none were purpose-built for professional services. When Boe discovered Rocketlane, the fit was immediate.
"I got a demo from the team and from what I saw, it looked like it had everything that I was looking for. Rocketlane’s the best fit for professional services teams."
Every project at Targit now begins with a Rocketlane template automatically selected from HubSpot based on project type, industry, or department. Projects are now up and running in five minutes instead of the manual, task-by-task setup that consumed hours before. With teams across US and EMEA regions, the entire delivery organization now operates from one centralized platform, giving leadership real-time answers to questions that were previously impossible to answer: active project count, capacity forecasts, at-risk initiatives, and time-to-value metrics.
"Things have gotten a lot easier for us. Everything is in one place. So we have our projects and a good overview of what everybody's working on. We have our time registrations in there. We even have our vacation tracking on Rocketlane!"
The customer portal was a primary differentiator in Targit's decision and has fundamentally transformed client relationships. From the very first meeting, clients are invited into Rocketlane to see a draft project plan, creating immediate transparency and professional credibility.
“Where it really makes an impact is when we onboard our clients. We appear more professional having a portal where customers can see what’s going to happen and the project timeline. It’s very clear from the get-go for our clients to know when we need them to test things and what tasks they are responsible for.”
Clients now have self-service visibility into project status, automated deadline notifications that keep everyone accountable, and one-click electronic approvals that eliminate the print-sign-scan bottleneck. Power users even create tasks directly in the portal, turning it into a true collaboration workspace.
"One other thing that's been really helpful is the fact that we can get approval on SoWs. In the past, we had to send over a PDF file that they would have to print out, sign it, send it back. Now they can just approve it in Rocketlane and we're good to go. That's helped us tremendously."
AI Fills quickly became mission-critical for Targit. AI assistants join every project meeting, generate structured summaries with action items, and enable consultants to send professional updates to clients within minutes.
"I think that the new AI note taker is one of my favorites in Rocketlane. It makes us appear more professional as a consulting group because we can immediately after we have a meeting send out, this is what happened and this is who needs to do what."
For Boe, managing consultants across regions, AI Fills provides essential oversight without meeting overload: "For me as a manager, it's quite helpful because I don't need to be on all the meetings. I can go read the notes if I need to know what happened on this project."
Targit built a two-way integration that eliminated the sales-delivery disconnect entirely. When opportunities close in HubSpot, projects spawn automatically in Rocketlane with all contact data and project details pre-populated. When SOWs are signed, automated workflows notify the sales team and trigger invoicing. Most innovatively, Targit worked with Rocketlane to create a custom integration where AI-generated meeting notes sync automatically to HubSpot, giving the sales team searchable visibility into every project conversation without leaving their CRM.
"We wanted to have a way to feed that back into HubSpot so that the rest of our organization could use and tap into those notes. When you search with HubSpot's AI, it will pick up those conversations we've had on specific project meetings."
The measurable impact: time-to-value reduced to 35-45 days (now tracked with KPI alerts), 10-15% efficiency gains per project, and successful scaling from initial team to 24 users across two continents.
With operational foundations firmly in place, Targit is focused on optimization and expansion. They recently onboarded their Belgium team with minimal training required, demonstrating Rocketlane's intuitive design. Looking ahead, they're exploring deeper resource management capabilities to improve forecasting and workload balancing, investigating advanced automation opportunities with AI Fills, and building partner network integration to scale revenue without proportional headcount growth. As a BI vendor, Targit continues extracting data via Rocketlane's API to create custom dashboards and analytics in their own platform, turning delivery data into strategic intelligence.
